Mykonos is a popular stop for crews cruising the Cyclades, but the official berth process needs some planning. The Mykonos Port Fund describes a structured online procedure for yacht berths, with an application, document upload, approval, payment and check-in.
This is not an alarm notice. It is a practical reminder to check the official reservation process, the assigned harbour area and the arrival window before making Mykonos part of the route.
What crews should know
According to the Mykonos Port Fund, the reservation system accepts applications only for arrival dates within the next 30 days from the date of request. The application is submitted online, with the required documents uploaded through the system. The Port Fund then checks the documents; incomplete files may lead to rejection.
After approval, payment must be made within 24 hours, otherwise the reservation is cancelled. Online check-in is activated 24 hours before the scheduled arrival. The Port Fund also makes clear that submitting the online form does not guarantee a berth; final approval remains at the discretion of the Port Fund.
The official page distinguishes between two harbour areas. The New Port at Tourlos is listed for vessels under 25 metres LOA, including motor yachts, sailing yachts and RIBs. The Old Port at Chora is listed for motor yachts over 25 metres LOA only; sailing yachts are not permitted there, regardless of size.
For Tourlos Marina, the Port Fund also notes a ferry-traffic restriction: private and commercial pleasure yachts may not enter or leave between 09:30 and 10:30 unless they have prior approval via VHF. For mooring arrivals, the official arrival window is from 12:00 noon until sunset.
Practical meaning
For crews, Mykonos is mainly a timing and coordination issue. It makes sense to watch the 30-day window, have the required documents ready before applying and keep the 24-hour payment deadline in mind once approval is granted.
The day plan matters too. A late approach leaves less room if wind, ferry traffic or harbour instructions change the sequence. Before arrival, crews should check the assigned harbour area, current port information and any marina communication.
